MEN'S
BASKETBALL
This Week:
OU student season tickets for the 2008-09 men's basketball season go on sale
to returning students Tuesday, Sept. 23. Tickets will be sold on a
first-come, first-served basis and will be available for purchase online
beginning at 7 a.m., and in person at the OU Athletics Ticket Office starting
at 10 a.m. New students (freshmen and transfers) will be able to sign up for
season tickets on Wednesday, Sept. 24, beginning at 7 a.m. online and in
person at the Ticket Office starting at 10 a.m. A lottery will be held on
September 25 for new
students if demand exceeds supply. Student season tickets are $130 and will
be charged to the student's bursar account. A $5 non-refundable processing fee
will be applied to all orders.
Notes:
This year, student season ticket
holders who use their tickets for 16 or more games (90%) will have $130
credited back to their bursar account courtesy of the Athletics Department …
Any student season ticket holder
who uses their ticket for at least 14 of the games (80%) will have a $50
credit put back on their bursar account … Anyone can use the ticket (friends,
co-workers, etc.) just as long as it is used … The men’s basketball team is
ranked No. 7 nationally by both
Rivals.com and
Lindy’s, and No. 10 by Athlon.

CROSS COUNTRY
Last
Week: The
University of Oklahoma women's cross country team finished fourth at
the Missouri Southern Stampede
Saturday morning, in Joplin, Mo.,
as sophomore Kelly Waters took second-place honors to lead the Sooners who had
three top ten finshers.
This
Week: OU is off this week as it prepares for its next
competition, the Cowboy Jamboree, on Oct. 4, in Stillwater, Okla.
Notes:
On the season, Waters has yet to finish lower than second place ... Saturday's
race marked the first this season for sophomore Jessica Engel.

This week:
Carol Ludvigson’s Sooners will tee off on Monday, Sept. 22, at the Ron Moore
Women's Intercollegiate in
Highlands Ranch, Colo. The 13-team tournament is the first of the
2008-09 season and will be hosted by the
University of Denver
at the 6,605-yard, par-72 Highlands Ranch Golf Course. The event will mark
the first OU appearance for Hemingway (Texas A&M transfer), Short and
Collins (freshmen).
Notes:
The 2008-09 women's golf team is looking to build upon an impressive 2007-08
season during which the team captured three tournament championships and its
first NCAA Regional
bid since 2004 … Senior Kendall Dye and sophomore Ellen Mueller rounded out
successful summers by competing in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in
August … Mueller advanced to the round of 16.

SOCCER (1-7 overall)
Last Week: No. 11 LSU’s high-scoring offense proved to be too much for the OU
soccer team on Friday, as they dropped a 4-0 decision to the Tigers at John
Crain Field. The Sooners were idle on Sunday.
This Week:
Oklahoma returns to action this weekend to begin Big 12 play at Colorado on
Friday, Sept. 26. Two days later, OU heads to
Lubbock, Texas, to
battle the
Red Raiders on Sunday at 1 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL (6-5, 2-1 Big 12)
Last
Week:
The University of Oklahoma
volleyball team returned home Wednesday evening and rallied in front
of a crowd of 559 to come from behind and defeat
Missouri, 3-1. The
Sooners dropped the first set, 25-22, and rallied to take the next three
from the Tigers, 25-22, 25-15 and 25-21. The team then dropped a battle in
College Station, Texas, Sunday afternoon, 3-2, to Texas A&M. It marked OU's
first loss in the Big 12 while
Texas A&M picked up its first victory. Oklahoma won the first and
third sets (28-26 and 25-23) while the Aggies took the second, fourth and
fifth (25-23, 25-21 and 15-8).
This
Week:
At Baylor (Wednesday, 7 p.m.) and home at the
Howard McCasland Field House
vs. Texas Tech (Saturday, 2 p.m.)
Notes:
Brianne Barker recorded her fifth double-double this season with a
season-high 44 assists and a season-high 19 digs at Texas A&M. Barker led
the team in hitting percentage on the week with a .462 against Missouri and
a .364 against Texas A&M. She also added a season-high two service aces.
Against Missouri, Bridget Laplante and Lacy Barnes each tallied a
career-high 22 digs, while Caitlin Higgins added a season-high 21.
Promotions:
Saturday’s game is free admission and a shuttle will be provided from the
Lloyd Noble parking lot for fans wishing to attend … First 250 fans to the
match receive an OU foam finger … Autographs from the team following the
game
