OU tallied 16 first-place votes to finish with 146 points, ahead of Texas, who had 10 first place votes and 140 points in the poll.
Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Baylor round out the South with 97, 68, 53 and 42 points, respectively.
In the North, to nobody’s surprise, it was Nebraska who finished on top with all 26 first place votes for 156 points, ahead of second place Missouri at 125.
Kansas State, Kansas, Colorado and Iowa State complete the North with 79, 70, 61 and 55 points, respectively.
The Sooners have won the Big 12 Championship in six of the 14 years of the conference’s existence, including in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007 and most recently in 2008.
That’s twice as much as any other college in the conference (Texas has three).
The Preseason All-Big 12 Team will be released Thursday, and Big 12 Media Days begin next Monday.
