No. 10:
Player: Cory Brandon
Position: Starting right tackle
The rundown: So far with the Sooner faithful, he is most widely remembered for his flurry of mental mistakes in the Brigham Young game last year. But overall he turned in a decent year, playing in all 13 games—he started seven of those—and returning to his starting position midway through the year after losing it early. At 6-foot-7, 324 lb., he is the only senior starter on the offensive line.
Expectations for 2010: Alongside guard Tyler Evans, he’ll have to hold up the right side of the O-line better than last year, or quarterback Landry Jones will see a lot of pressure coming right into his face, forcing him to scramble for his life. Some of the mental mistakes Brandon struggled with throughout the 2009 season must not occur again or the line could have a long year. He’s a pivotal part of it for sure.
