No. 12:
Player: Tyler Evans
Position: Starting right guard
The rundown: At 6-foot-5, 316 lbs., Evans saw a lot of playing time last year as a freshman, in large part due to all the injuries on the Sooner front a season ago. He played in a total of 11 contests, starting four of those at the right guard position, and he accumulated 19 knockdowns over the course of the season.
Expectations for 2010: Evans will be expected to step up and solidify the right side of the line alongside tackle Cory Brandon. He really matured at the end of last year, and all indications are that he will be much improved in ’10. As the youngest starter on the O-line, though, Evans has some hefty responsibility in helping protect quarterback Landry Jones a whole lot better than during the 2009 season.
