LeMay Finishes Season with a Bang
Led by quarterback LeMay, the Butler (N.C.) football team finished with a perfect 15-0 season record. This past weekend, Butler was crowned the Class 4-AA North Carolina High School Athletic Association champions with a 48-17 win over Fayetteville Britt. In the win, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound LeMay threw for 189 yards and three touchdowns and was the game’s MVP.
For the year, LeMay had 3,196 yards, 44 touchdowns to only two interceptions. The Butler football team averaged 48.4 points per game.

Jefferson Helps Eastlake Bring Home the Hardware
For most of the season, Eastlake (CA) athlete Jefferson has been the live wire for the team. And in the state game, that was the initial plan. But in the second quarter of the CIF state championship game against Vista, Jefferson has to sit out after a shoulder injury. But even from a motivational, supportive role, Jefferson watched his team bring home the title after a late interception sealed a 21-14 win.
On the season, Jefferson had 1,951 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns. Defensively, he had 44 tackles and two interceptions.
RB Herschel Sims, Abilene HS, Class of 2011
Sims Finds the ‘Zone Twice in Semifinal Win
With he, and his cousin and quarterback, Ronnell Sims, the Abilene (TX) football team is rolling. Now at 15-0, the Eagles advance to the Division II Class 5A football championship after a 29-21 state semifinal win over Klein. In the win, Sims had 24 carries for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
So far this season, he has averaged 8.9 yards a carry and has 2,245 yards and 34 touchdowns.
WR Marcus Vaughn, Pearland Dawson, Class of 2011
Vaughn, Eagles Make History Even with Loss
The Pearland (TX) Dawson football team is only in its second year of varsity play, but has made huge strides. The Eagles advanced to the Class 4A Division I state semifinals game and faced off against Austin Lake Travis. The two-time defending state champion Travis team handled Dawson 57-12, the worst loss suffered this season. For Vaughn, five catches for 37 yards and a touchdown. He ended his junior season with 53 catches for 945 yards and nine touchdowns.

Young Produces Most of Tigers’ Yards in Win
For the Katy (TX) football team, last week’s playoff win was not the prettiest. But, a win is a win. In Class 5A Division II state semifinals, the two-time defending champions from Katy defeated New Braunsfels 14-6. In the win, Young had 21 carries for 120 yards.
Young and the Katy team will advance to the state game and face off against Sims and the Abilene team.
