Norman, Okla. -- Theresa Schuknecht got her first taste of Bedlam on Sunday, and it tasted good.
Schuknecht scored a season-high 28 points while leading No. 24 Oklahoma past Oklahoma State, 87-71, Sunday in Norman.
"It finally clicked tonight for myself and the team," Schuknecht. "I can't put a finger on it. Just lots of hard work in the last few practices. It feels real good to play well as a team."
"She did a great job," said OSU Head Coach Julie Goodenough Schuknecht. "She really posted us up. In the mid-post we played behind her and then she backed into the lane and did the most damage."
With the win Oklahoma improves to 14-8 overall and 5-4 in Big 12 play. OSU drops to 5-15 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
"It's a good win for our basketball team," said OU Head Coach Sherri Coale. "Any win right now is a good win for our basketball team. This one perhaps is a little sweeter because it was against Oklahoma State."
The Sooners shot 53 percent from the field and also got 17 points from guard Maria Villarroel.
Trisha Skibbe led the Cowgirls with 23 points.
Oklahoma will take the court again on Wednesday when they host Baylor. The Sooners won the first meeting in Waco, 65-54, on January 26. Tip-off is scheduled for 7PM Wednesday at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
