Injury Report: Brian Simmons
Oklahoma lost some valuable experience on the offensive line when Brian Simmons exited the field in the Baylor game with a knee injury and did not return. OU head coach Bob Stoops has always been vague about the injury that Simmons sustained, but it has kept him from playing the past five weeks. But it appears Simmons will be returning to action this weekend, supplying a much needed boost to an ailing offensive line, that was forced to play tight end Eric Mensik at RT at the tail end of 65-10 win over Texas A&M. Confirmed Stoops, "He practiced yesterday, so he is set to play this week. Provided that everything goes as it should this week." OU Offensive Coordinator Kevin Wilson is excited about Simmons return and is happy to have another body to work with in the interior of the line, especially with last weeks starter, Tyler Evans, still battling a nagging ankle injury. "He did well yesterday", Wilson said. "He looked really good. We are getting thin with numbers so that was huge. Hopefully that will transfer to for him playing for us Saturday." "We are a little bit better at guard with Brian being back."
