Senior offensive lineman Brian Simmons went down with what appeared to be a knee injury in the Baylor game and there has not been much talk at al surrounding his status, but it appears he will be sidelined for a while.
“He won’t play,” OU head coach Bob Stoops said. “He is out for several weeks.”
It seems Simmons could be out for the whole year or at least a great portion of it.
“We’ll see,” Stoops responded when asked if he could return at all. “That is down the road.”
Star quarterback Sam Bradford will also be sidelined for the KU game, but his seasonal status seems to still be up in the air, but Stoops plans to have a more detailed announcement by Thursday after more evaluation is done.
“I think the fair thing to say is right now he is not going to play this week, I assumed every one understood that,” stated Stoops. “From there the path hasn’t been determined yet and I don’t know that it will by Thursday either, but I figured I wont know anything… once I do as I always do I will say so. There is still a lot still to look at until he determines it. “
“It doesn’t show any other (new) injuries compared to what it was. So we’ll see what everyone determines is best for him. What he and doctors and everyone else feel is the road to take.”
What type of advice is Stoops giving his star QB?
“I tell him what the doctors tell him and the trainers and I tell him to be sure to do what you feel is right for the future and for you. That is what I always told him.”
