There was no doubt that Austin Woods, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound center from Rockwall-Heath High (Texas) had a great time on his official visit this past weekend.
“It was awesome,” began Woods. “It was a great atmosphere up there. It was a Big 12 game, so the crowd was in to it just like any other game. It was nice to start off conference with a big win like that.”
Woods offered up some more of the specifics and highlights from his trip.
“Ben Habern was my host,” Woods continued. “After the game we went out to eat with the coaches, my family, and all of the other recruits and stuff like that. After that we kind of hung out a his place and just kind of enjoyed the night.”
“It was a great experience just getting to talk to the coaches a little bit more and just see their reaction to the game and stuff like that.”
When Woods was here in the summer OU had not yet completed the renovation of the Barry Switzer Center, where the locker room, coach’s offices and various other football facilities are housed.
Now that they are completed it is definitely an impressive upgrade that grab’s the eyes of potential recruits.
“The locker room and all of the new facilities like the pool and the training room are all top of the line,” Woods exclaimed!
“It’s all great. It is definitely nice to see all of that and know that is where you are going to be spending most of your time.”
The Sooners celebrated the win over Baylor, but with Texas looming ahead on the schedule it seems that OU is going to switch the focus over very quickly.
“We got to go in the locker room and hear coach Stoops talk,” Woods explained. “He said they have got to enjoy the win, but they got a big one next week. It is really one at a time and if it is a big win you need to celebrate it and put it behind you so that you can concentrate on the next game.”
