One of the top running backs in the South has made his decision. He took a visit to Georgia on…
Malcome wants to check out OU
There were plenty of things that went down in the months of May and June for Southwest Dekalb (GA) running back Ken Malcome in regards to Oklahoma. In early May, Malcome got word that the Sooners have offered, and by the end of the month they shot to the top of his list. Now that a little over a month has past, Oklahoma is still in good position for the 6-foot, 217-pound-Malcome, but there are a few more schools that are equal in interest. "I have about 22 offers right now, but I have a Top 4: Georgia, Florida, Ohio State, and Oklahoma," Malcome said. Referring to himself as a "balanced" back, Malcome wants to make sure and check out all the schools before making his final decision, which he said, will likely come at the end of July. More interesting, after this weekend, there will be one school out of the four that he has yet to see. "I have been to Florida and Georgia, and I am at Ohio State right now," Malcome said. "The camp starts this Friday, but I came down early to check things out. Right now, I am with some of the players playing video games." So if the plan stands, a trip to Norman, OK would be in the near future. Malcome stated that assistant coach Cale Gundy is recruiting him from the Sooner staff and said that they stay in touch frequently by email. There has been good rapport between the two. "I talk to him almost everyday by email and the last time he and I talked on the phone was about two weeks ago," Malcome said. "He and talk about a lot of things and he always asked how my family is doing. I tell him that I really like Oklahoma (as one of my top schools) and likes that I feel that way. They (Oklahoma coaches) really want me down there. I never feel rushed by the coaches." Malcome said that he really wants to get down to Oklahoma and check things out. He was actually supposed to come to the Sooners' camp, but something came up and he had to cancel. And though the relationship between he and the coaches seem to be on the up and up, there were a few things he pointed out about the Big 12 champion Sooners that was quite simple. "They win. I have been following them since Adrian Peterson went there and they are always playing in the big games," Malcome said. "From what I can see, there is a good atmosphere in Norman and I want to see it." Despite missing four games last season, Malcome still rushed for 980 yards and 14 touchdowns.
