This past weekend the first New Level/Badger Sports 7on7 was a resounding success as a number of top players showed up to represent their home states. This weekend a bevy of stars will be pouring in to Las Vegas to do the same.

Quarterbacks:

Jake Heaps (Wash.) – Heaps was one of the top performers at this same camp one year ago and his team made a ring for the championship, but fell just short of the title by finishing second. This year Heaps would like to come back and finish on top. He has offers from a number of the nation’s elite programs and is considered as one of the most steady and heady quarterback recruits in the country.

Connor Wood (Texas) – Wood will be one of the quarterbacks leading the Texas team and ironically enough he will be leading a Texas team in the future as he has already made a commitment to rep his home state in college as he has already committed to the Longhorns. He has plenty of seven-on-seven experience, so his team should do well in the tournament.

Austin Hinder (Colo.) – Have you noticed the recruiting interest that Colorado’s top player has drawn as of late? How about offers from Notre Dame and Alabama? That will certainly grab some attention. I have been really looking forward to seeing this kid throw for myself and am looking forward to how he stacks up against Wood and Heaps.

Peter Thomas (Cali.) – Thomas already holds a good number of offers from schools like Arizona State, Boston College, Northwestern, and Maryland. At 6-foot-5, 200 pounds he has the frame to grow in to the prototype on the next level.

Jameille Showers (Texas) – Showers is an amazing athlete that does not get a lot of run in the state of Texas as the top quarterback, but he has an amazing assembly of talents and has already been recognized as top player for his performance at the US Army Combine.

Running Backs:

Lache Seastrunk (Texas) – Seastrunk is one of the most talked about running backs in the country as his film has had a plethora of his on youtube. He was also recognized as the US Army Combine’s most valuable participant and has already earned a spot in the ’10 version of the game. LSU, UT, and OU are thought to be the frontrunners for his signature.

D.J. Morgan (Cali.) – The USC commitment Morgan was one of the top players at the B2G camp last week and now he will be putting his talents on display again at the 7on7. He is already rated as Scout.com Top 100 member.

Others: Brennan Clay (Cali.), James McConico (Cali.)

Wide Receivers:

Trovon Reed (Texas) – Reed is one of the slickest receivers in the country and like Seastrunk he was a top performer at the US Army Combine. His offer list is as good as any other receiver in America with schools like LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas already stepping up.

John Harris (Texas) – Harris is a vertical receiver that has a knack for making big plays down the field. He made plenty of plays in the Texas 7on7 State Championship last summer and he should repeat that performance this weekend. He has already made a commitment to play for the Texas Longhorns.

Thomas Roberson (Okla.) – Roberson may be a name that is known in recruiting circles in Oklahoma, but with a solid blend of size and speed and route running ability he may be a player to watch.

Joe Powell (Texas) – The Oklahoma Sooners jumped on the Powell bandwagon before he had the chance to blow up at an event like this. He may not have been a player that even made the preview a week ago, but now that his film has dropped big offers were coming in.

Others: Dietrich Riley (Cali.), Dillon Baxter (Cali.), Kenny Stills (Cali.), Jamaal Kearse (Wash.), Paul Richardson (Cali.)

Tight Ends:

Xavier Grimble (Nev.) – Grimble is one of those tight ends that may just be too big and too fast for linebackers to handle in a 7on7 situation, which will make him a valuable offensive weapon. He is currently tabbed as the top recruit in the state of Nevada.

Chris Martin (Cali.) – It will be fun to watch who emerges as the top tight end prospects on the West coast as Martin ad Grimble are likely neck and neck.

Linebackers:

Shaun Lewis (Texas) – Lewis is fast enough that he is just like having another defensive back out on the field. That should give team Texas a lot versatility on defense. Oklahoma and LSU are hot on his trail and both have offered the talented backer.

Tony Jefferson (Cali.) – Jefferson is ranked among the best in the country and holds offers from every major program across the country including USC and Oklahoma.

Corey Nelson (Texas) – Nelson is the top ranked linebacker in Texas and already holds offers from OU, UT, A&M and LSU amongst a wealth of others. He has been taking visits for junior days in preparation of his final choice and was a standout at the Scout Combine in Dallas a year ago.

Defensive Backs:

Toney Hurd (Texas) – Hurd may not have ideal size at corner, but he plays much bigger than his 5-foot-8 frame might suggest. He has lockdown skills and will play physical even with the bigger receivers.

Ahmad Dixon (Texas) – Dixon will be the highest rated defensive back in the “Lone Star State” in 2010. He hits like a safety, but is smooth enough that he could play corner as well. He has also already made the decision to stay in-state and play for the Longhorns.

Others: Lucky Radley (Cali.), Devon Carrington (Ariz.), Sean Parker (Cali.), Marquis Flowers (Ariz.), Chris Badger (Utah)
