Saturday night’s 62-21 win over the Missouri Tigers was the Sooners sixth conference title in the Bob Stoops era. They have now collected three times as many championships as any other team in the conference, and have won three straight.

The wheels may have fell of the Sooner Schooner during Saturday night’s Big 12 Championship game, but they did not fall off the OU offense.

Despite losing star running back DeMarco Murray to a bruised knee on the opening kick-off the Oklahoma offense was still able to muster 627 total yards in the 62-21 win over the 20th ranked Tigers.

“I thought offensively, again, (we were) spectacular,” said OU head coach Bob Stoops.

“The balance, Sam Bradford, again, who throws it better than him. Just incredible accuracy, incredible on third downs when you have to have it.”

The OU defense played one of its best games of the season, hopefully silencing the critics. They held Mizzou to their lowest point output of the season and forced three turnovers.

“It all starts with the front four,” explained Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year. “I think they did a great job tonight. I don’t think Chase (Daniel) was comfortable all night because of them.”

The Sooners have now been crowned as the Big 12 Conference Champions six times in Bob Stoops’ ten years at the university. That is three times more than any other team in the conference.

“We as an overall program are proud of what we have been able to do,” Stoops stated. They’re not easy to get.”

OU is likely set for a match-up with the Florida Gators in the Fed Ex BCS National Championship game in Miami, Fla., on Jan. 8th.

“We will find out tomorrow (who we play) and we will game plan,” Junior tight end Jermaine Gresham said of the potential match-up with the Florida Gators in Miami.

“If we get down there it will be pretty nice, because it will be warm.”
