NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma men's basketball players Blake Griffin and Willie Warren were honored by the Big 12 Conference office today for their play last week. Griffin, a sophomore, was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks, while Warren, a freshman, was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Co-Rookie of the Week with Baylor freshman Quincy Acy.

Griffin, a 6-10, 251-pound forward from Oklahoma City, averaged 26.7 points, 20.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.3 steals per game in wins over Mississippi Valley State, No. 21 Davidson and Gardner-Webb last week. He shot .725 from the field (29-for-40).

Griffin became the first player in Big 12 history to record consecutive games of at least 20 points and 20 rebounds by registering 25 points and 21 boards against Davidson and a career-high 35 points and 21 caroms versus Gardner-Webb. Griffin's 35 points against the Bulldogs were the most by a Sooner in a non-overtime game since the 1997-98 season.

Griffin is now averaging 26.0 points, 19.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game on the year while shooting .745 from the floor. He is the first OU player to register at least 18 rebounds in four consecutive games (no Sooner had ever done it in three consecutive contests).

Warren averaged 17.0 points and 2.7 assists on the week to earn his first Big 12 weekly honor. The 6-4, 207-pound guard from Fort Worth, Texas, scored 14 points against Mississippi Valley State, a career-high 20 against Davidson and 17 versus Gardner-Webb. He made three 3-pointers in each of the last two contests.

Warren is now averaging 15.3 points, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game on the season. He is shooting .447 from the field and .765 from the free throw line.

The Sooners play Wednesday and Friday of this week in the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals and championship rounds in New York City. OU plays UAB on Wednesday at approximately 8:30 p.m. CST and will face either Purdue or Boston College on Friday at 12:30 or 3 p.m. CST.
