MEN'S BASKETBALL
Last
Week: OU (4-0) went 3-0 with wins over Mississippi Valley
State (94-53) and No. 21 Davidson (82-78) in the
NIT Season Tip-Off, and
another over Gardner-Webb (80-76).
Blake Griffin averaged 26.7 points, 20.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists on
the week while shooting 72.5 percent from the field. He became the first
player in Big 12 Conference history to record consecutive games of at least 20
points and 20 rebounds (25 and 21 against Davidson, 35 and 21 versus
Gardner-Webb). Willie Warren scored in double figures in all three contests
and averaged 17.0 points and 2.7 assists, while Taylor Griffin averaged 11.3
points, 5.7 boards and 2.3 steals.
This
Week: The Sooners head to New York's Madison Square Garden for
NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals and championship round games on Wednesday and
Friday. The tournament's No. 2 seed, OU plays No. 7 seed UAB on Wednesday at
approximately 8:30 p.m. CST. It will take on No. 1 seed Purdue or No. 4 seed
Boston College on Friday at 12:30 or 3 p.m. CST. All NIT Season Tip-Off games
will be televised by ESPN2.
Notes:
Blake Griffin is averaging 26.0 points, 19.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game
on the season while shooting .745 from the field ... He is the first player in
OU history to record four straight games of at least 18 rebounds (nobody had
done it in more than two consecutive games) ... Griffin has registered games
of 18, 19, 21 and 21 boards to start the year ... His career-high 35 points
against Gardner-Webb on Saturday were the most by a Sooner in a non-overtime
game since the 1997-98 season ...
Oklahoma is off to the

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Last Week:
No. 2 Oklahoma was rewarded with its highest ranking in program history before
playing three games in five days in the Preseason Women’s NIT. OU defeated
Middle Tennessee, 85-65, Wednesday, Nov. 19, and No. 18 Arizona State, 70-57,
Friday, Nov. 21, before falling to No. 4 North Carolina in the championship
game, 80-79.
This Week:
OU hosts Marist at the
Lloyd Noble Center
Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m. before taking its first road trip of the season
to No. 1 Connecticut Sunday, Nov. 30.
Notes:
Courtney Paris became OU’s all-time leading scorer with her 19-point
performance against Arizona State, passing Phylesha Whaley, who held the
previous mark at 2,187 points … Paris also had 20 rebounds in the game for her
NCAA-record 100th career double-double … Paris sisters, Ashley and
Courtney, were named to the Preseason WNIT All-Tournament Team.

VOLLEYBALL
Last Week:
Oklahoma (12-15, 8-11 Big 12) went 1-1 on the week, falling to
Texas A&M in five sets,
3-2 on Wednesday night and defeating Iowa State 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Both matches were at home.
This Week:
Oklahoma closes out the 2009 schedule Wednesday evening, traveling to Colorado
for a 6:30 p.m. CT contest in Boulder.
Notes:
Against Texas A&M, Oklahoma was led by redshirt sophomore Francie Ekwerekwu's
career-high 19 kills. Ekwerekwu hit .359 on the evening and added three block
assists to carry the Sooners offensively … Freshman setter Brianne Barker
tallied 50 assists and 20 digs for her 16th double-double of the season …
Freudenrich led the team with a .455 hitting percentage … As a team, the
Sooners hit .233, their third highest clip during conference play this year …
Laplante hit .345 for OU. Freshman Brianne Barker led the team with 27 assists
… Defensively, senior Lacy Barnes had 22 digs in her final game for Oklahoma …
Laplante and Higgins added nine digs each, and freshman Danielle Alva added
five … The Sooners had a superb day at the net with 11 total blocks. Ekwerekwu
tied a career high with eight block assists to lead the Sooners. Boulavsky
tied season highs in block solos (1), block assists (5) and total blocks (6).

Oklahoma improved to 3-0 on the season with victories over
Oklahoma City (47-0) on Thursday and No. 20 Old Dominion (28-6) on Sunday.
OU’s win versus OCU gave head
coach Jack Spates his 200th win at OU.
This week:
The Sooners host the Oklahoma
Open this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28-29, at the Lloyd Noble Center in
Norman.
Notes:
Head coach Jack Spates became just the second OU coach to reach the 200-win
plateau, joining Stan Abel (279) … No. 10th-ranked Eric Lapotsky at
197 pounds remained undefeated after last week, now owning a 7-0 record on the
season. Lapotsky recorded a pin against OCU, his fourth of the season in just
seven matches … Unranked Sooner senior David Armstrong posted an upset win
over No. 12 Kyle Hutter of ODU for his fourth victory this season.
