After losing to Texas Tech in Lubbock a year ago the wheels fell off of the Sooners national title aspirations.
This year they look to avenge that loss and put themselves right back in to the race. A win will make an awfully confusing mess of the BCS, what else is new?
The spread on this game is probably dead on. The two teams are pretty equal, so you throw out a touchdown for the home team, but is a TD too much for a game of this magnitude?
The problem is that OU is not your typical home team. They are a GREAT home team that has went 59-2 on Owen Field in the Bob Stoops era.
The Red Raiders win over the Texas Longhorns earlier this season was their first win EVER over a Top Five team and they have never beaten OU and UT in the same season.
Now to get to the nuts and bolts of who you should put your money down on. We believe that OU will win this game, but it could and should all the way come down to the wire.
This game should be a score fest. The Sooners lead the Big 12 in total defense, but they have gave up a ton of yardage to paltry opponents like Kansas State, Kansas, Texas A&M, and even Nebraska.
They won each of those games big, but when your defense springs a leak it is hard to clog mid-season.
The Red Raiders will not be able to stop OU either. Joey Halzle almost pulled off a come from behind victory in Lubbock a year ago against the exact same defense.
The only thing that could slow down the scoring is inefficiency in the red zone by both squads, and both OU and Tech are two of the best at cashing it in inside the 20.
The Sooners are 11-2 straight up, but 6-7 "Against the Spread" when playing after a week off during the regular season since Stoops took over in 1999.
