Some of the first half notes for tonight’s contest between Oklahoma and TCU…

- The most notable note to start the game off was the fact that Duke Robinson was not playing and Brian Simmons and Branndon Braxton got most of the snaps at left guard in the first quarter.

- Justin Johnson and Ben Habern join guys like Frank Alexander, Eric Mensik, DeMarcus Granger in ‘street clothes’ on the sideline.

- The OU kick coverage unit continues to struggle. The first TCU score was set-up by poor coverage. Austin Box is now working in with that unit.

- You can tell that Travis Lewis just gets better and better each week. He is becoming a good leader among the linebacking corps, and he is very energetic. He is always waving his arms trying to bring the crowd in to the game.

- Early in the week Jay Norvell mentioned that he would like to get more receivers involved and on the second series Adron Tennell and Ryan Broyles were inserted in to the game.

- Robinson’s missed time appears to be of the disciplinary variety as he was inserted in to the game on the Sooner’s fourth offensive possession.

- Sam Bradford threw for 199 yards in the first quarter. That is the highest ever for an OU quarterback. The record was previously held by Jason White who threw for 184 yards in the 2003 Baylor game.

- Lendy Holmes had two fumble recoveries in the first half. It may not be a record, but it is pretty cool…

- With the injury to DeMarcus Granger it was Cory Bennett who seemed to get a lot more time, and he took advantage of it, and made a big play when the Frogs went for it on fourth down late in the second quarter.

- Late in the second quarter Gerald McCoy came off of the field with some kind of an injury. After the staff worked on him for about 10 minutes he was walking around and stretching his back.

- Trent Williams and Gerald McCoy were slow to get off of the field at the end of the half, but both guys showed good signs by getting off by their own power with a light, light jog.

- Ryan Reynolds may be having a breakout type of game. He leads the team with six tackles in the first half, and while he has done nothing glamorous he has been rock solid.
