OU/Cincy: First Half Notes

Frank Alexander in a cast...

OU has jumped out to a 21-13 lead on Cincinnati in the first half and there are a number of potential story lines developing…

- DeMarco Murray is back……. On kick-off returns that is. He made some nice plays in the kick return game, and it could only be matter of time before he takes one all of the way…

- Defensive end Frank Alexander, who was shanked in an altercation following last week's win, is on the sidelines in a big arm cast…

- Wide receiver Brandon Caleb, who was a guest at this week's media luncheon, is in a boot and not playing in this game…

- Travis Lewis got the start at the "Will" linebacker spot, and Mike Balogun and/or Austin Box have not really had any time on the field (Balogun is in on some special team units)…

- To start the game OU put Murray in the slot and then came right back on the second play with a quick snap rushing play that caught Cincy off guard. The quick snap was a solid weapon in the first half until UC caught up with it…

- Jeremy Beal is playing in the OU "spinner" role that Dan Cody made famous. He is lining up with his hand on the ground or dropping back like linebacker, allowing OU to play a three-man front…

- Jermaine Gresham caught his first touchdown pass of the 2008 season. More are sure to follow…

- Trent Williams got the start at offensive tackle and Brian Simmons and Branndon Braxton were the first guys in off the bench on series number three.

- Dominique Franks got his first "real" interception in an OU uniform, but the defensive backs and linebackers will have to play better to keep Cincy off the board in the second half…

- Many OU fans predicted a big victory for OU and that the Sooner ‘D' would keep UC under control, but they are in for a fight in the second half. This one appears to be heading to the wire…
