NORMAN, Okla. -- Former LSU offensive lineman Jarvis Jones has transferred to Oklahoma. Sooner coach Bob Stoops confirmed the transfer today. | |||

The 6-7, 294-pound Jones will first be eligible to compete at OU in the 2009 season. “Jarvis is a talented guy who we recruited when he was in high school,” Stoops said of the new prospect, who attended Thursday’s practice. “We’re excited that he has joined the team.” Originally from Rosenburg, Texas and Lamar Consolidated High School, Jones played in seven games for LSU last season as a freshman. He saw action at both left tackle and right guard in a backup role. Jones logged 63 plays including a season-high 18 against Louisiana Tech. Out of high school, Jones was rated the No. 10 offensive tackle in the nation by Scout.com and a member of the Houston Chronicle’s top 100. His team reached the semifinals of the playoffs in 2006. The son of Darrell Jones and Angela Mayberry, he was born Feb. 28, 1988, in Austin, Texas. Media Note: Due to storms in the Norman area, Thursday’s practice was moved to the Everest Center. |
