Javen Henson has dreamed of playing for the
Sooners her entire life and even though she was being heavily recruited
by several top programs, she knew she really wanted to be a Sooner and
decided to go ahead and commit early. When asked about her commitment,
Henson said, "It's really where I've always wanted to go and that will
never change. I love everything about it period and I am ready to be a
Sooner."
A nationally-recruited top prospect, Henson most recently was selected
as one of the Top 30 High School softball players in the country and
will be honored as member of the 2008 ESPN/Under Armour All-American High
School Softball Team. The 30 All-Americans selected will participate
in the 2008 ESPN/Under Armour All-American High School Softball Games
July 18-20 in Orlando, Florida. The game will be televised on ESPN/U.
Several of the selections were members of the World Champion Junior
National Team in 2007.
Henson helped lead her High School team to back-to-back State
Championships in 2006 and 2007. This year at State she hit two homeruns
throughout the Lady Eagles three games and started the Championship Game off
with a two-run shot in the top of the first inning, which resulted in her
being intentionally walked the next five times at the plate in the
11-inning Championship Game. While trying to intentionally walk Henson for
the fifth time of the game, the ball got away from the catcher
allowing the winning run to score.
An all-around athlete, she also averages 11.5 points per game for the
fifth ranked Lady Eagles basketball team.
Her home-to-1st time is 2.8 and she maintains a 4.00 GPA.
