Musil Commits to OU

Kansas athlete Marshall Musil became one of the hottest commodities in the recruiting game over the past month. He racked up offers from schools like Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisville, Kansas, and Kansas State. In the end it was the offer from the Sooners that won out.

Sometimes it takes a little longer to get your name on the recruiting radar when you are playing out of the small town of LaCrosse, Kan. As a matter of fact LaCrosse is one of the smallest teams in class 2-1A.

Despite the small classification Marshall Musil, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound athlete has arrived on the national recruiting scene in a big way.

His amazing recruiting journey started when the Kansas Jayhawks turned up the heat by offering him a full ride scholarship to play his college ball in Lawrence.

After pulling down an offer from the Orange Bowl Champs Musil snagged yet another big offer from the Missouri Tigers, who were in the hunt for a National Title at one point during the 2007 season.

Schools like Louisville, TCU, and Kansas State all followed suit by stepping up to the plate with scholarships as well, but the big news came when the Oklahoma Sooners stepped up to plate following Musil's impressive performance at a session of the OU summer camp.

With a rare blend of size and speed (4.6 forty-yard dash) Musil plays running back and linebacker at LaCrosse. As a junior he racked up 745 yards rushing yards and 13 touchdowns to go along with 51 tackles and three sacks to help lead his team to a 10-1 record.

It is apparent by Musil's statistics and on the field accolades that he could contribute at wide array of positions, but the plan for him will be to come in and play on the offensive side of the ball at tight end for the Sooners.
