Coming fresh off a trip to check out Alabama, Frisco Centennial quarterback Ryan Mossakowski would like to start thinking about narrowing down his college options. With nine offers in hand, the 6-foot-4, 202-pound Mossakowski has visited many of the programs that have extended offers to him.
He talked about the Roll Tide trip.
“It was a wonderful trip and I really enjoyed it. It was really good because it was just me,” Mossakowski said. “This was an unofficial trip and I was able to get a lot of one-on-one time.”
Including Alabama, he holds offers from Auburn, Texas A&M, Kansas, Nebraska, Arizona, Oregon, Kentucky, and Clemson. But there is one other school that has been recruiting him fairly strong that he does not have an offer from.
When it comes to the Oklahoma program, Mossakowski is looking to reach out to the coaches to see where he stands. After the announcement that Sooner signal caller Keith Nichol decided to transfer, what does that mean to Mossakowski?
“To be honest with you, I really don’t know,” Mossakowski, who threw for 3,029 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior said. “I’ll probably be calling coach (Josh) Heupel in the next couple of days to see where things stand. I just want to find out a few things. We have good talks and we are always real with each other.”
Mossakowski said that he and Heupel keep pretty steady communications between each other, talking on what Mossakowski calls “on the regular.” He said he does understand how selective the Sooner program is when it comes to the quarterback position.
“I know that they are interested in me,” Mossakowski said. “But I do know that they do not offer too many quarterbacks. We’ll just have to wait and see because I am not sure how many they plan to take.”
He said the next move in his detailed recruiting process would be a couple of quarterback camps at Auburn and Clemson. And while those are the two for sure already planned, Mossakowski does plan to make a few other stops.
So while he is planning his summer schedule, is another trip to Norman on the list?
“Right now I am getting the dates to other camps and putting them on a schedule to see how they fit in,” Mossakowski said.
Once he is through with summer camps that is when he plans to start trimming the list down. And from the way it sounds, don’t expect an early commitment from him.
“After the camps, I will weigh all of my options and narrow the list down to a Top 5,” Mossakowski said. “Those will be the schools that I plan to visit officially. Then after all of the officials, I will narrow it down to one. I have no problem taking the recruiting process into my senior season.”
