Brown Enjoys Scrimmage

Bixby tight end Greg Brown was one of many prospects at the OU Sooner scrimmage that was held on Saturday afternoon. Sooners Illustrated caught up with him on his thoughts about the visits.

Greg Brown, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end from Bixby High in Okla., informed SI earlier this week that he was going to be heading out to visit the spring scrimmage or a practice at OU, and he was glad he did.

“It was fun,” Brown explained. “They looked pretty good.”

One player that stood out to Brown was big OU tight end Jermaine Gresham, who is one of the top players in college football.

“He looked like he was about 6-10, 260,” Brown remarked.

While he did not get an official offer from OU he was glad that he got to go to the scrimmage, because it gave him the opportunity to sit down with the coaching staff and listen to what they were telling him about the position he is being recruited at.

“Coach Wilson told me that they have not offered any tight ends at all yet,” Brown relayed. “He told me that they were looking at taking one tight end and one H-Back/Fullback type of guy. He told me that nothing has changed and that I am still at the top of the board for that H-Back spot,”

“I was definitely glad that I went.”

Brown is equally adept at blocking and receiving. As a junior he pulled down 28 catches for over 350 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bixby on a deep playoff run.
