Bixby tight end Greg Brown has been a player of high interest on the recruiting board, and although he has yet to pull down his first official scholarship offer he has continued to receive strong interest from a number of schools, most particularly the in-state programs. | |||

Greg Brown, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end from Bixby High in Okla., admits that he has not been too worried about the fact that he has yet to reel in his first offer. Since basketball season has ended he has been working out getting ready for next season and playing golf for the Spartans. A couple of months ago it looked like he could be closing in on an official offer from the Oklahoma Sooners, but now it may be another in-state school that steps up to the plate first. “I have been hitting up TU’s practices a lot,” Brown said. “The relationship with those guys has been real good. My dad and I went down there a few hours one day and talked to all of the coaches and kinda got the feel for what they had to offer. We got to see where they are coming from.” Tulsa has really kicked up their interest in Brown, but he is still receiving interest from OU. “It is still the same,” Brown explained of the interest level between himself and the Sooners. “I have not really talked to Coach Wilson lately. His phone has been off. Every time I call him it goes straight to voice mail. I definitely want to try to make it out to a practice sometime this week. We have talked and he has indicated to me that they will probably take two tight ends next year.” He has also been paying some attention to what other players that the Sooners are recruiting and if that may indeed affect his chances of pulling down a schollie. “I do not know if they have offered the big kid from Texas yet (Jordan Najvar). I know he is a big guy, so I do not know if they would be recruiting him for the same type of H-Back spot that they are recruiting me for.” It does look like OU and Tulsa are at the very top of his offer wish list, but he is open to any and all suitors. “Obviously I am still very interested in OU as I am in Tulsa,” Brown informed. “Tulsa has really made a good impression on me lately as far as what they would expect from me if I went there. I still do not have any favorites. It is kind of hard to have any favorites when you do not have any offers.” Brown is also receiving interest from OSU, but he admits that when looking at the numbers they may not be as likely to offer as TO and OU. “I have been up there,” Brown said. “I really like coach Brewer. He is really cool. It is a fun place to watch a basketball game. I love watching OSU and I think they have a great offense. I do not know if it is in the cards for from a pure numbers standpoint. I would love to go play for OSU, but they just took four tight ends in their recruiting class last year, so that makes me think they might not take one this year.” In 2007 Bixby safety Chris Harris strongly considered playing basketball on the next level before Kansas came through with a late offer. Harris went on to start as a Freshman and helped the Jayhawks secure victory in the Orange Bowl. Brown understands that good things can happen late in the process and there is still a lot of time left before now and national signing day. “I know a couple of guys around here who are pretty good football players that have not received any offers yet, so I am not really sweating it yet. It is still early for me I think. I do not feel like if they have not offered me by now then they do not want me.” Brown is equally adept at blocking and receiving. As a junior he pulled down 28 catches for over 350 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bixby on a deep playoff run.
