OU Holds Pro Day

About two dozen NFL scouts were in Norman on Tuesday to watch draft-eligible Sooners take part in the annual Pro Day. Sooners Illustrated was there. Did anyone improve their stock? Hurt it? University of Oklahoma football players eligible for the 2008 NFL worked out for scouts representing more than 20 pro teams Tuesday morning at the Everest Training Center.

Among those participating for Oklahoma were Lewis Baker, Michael Cohen, Steven Coleman, Alonzo Dotson, Joe Jon Finley, Garrett Hartley, Curtis Lofton, Allen Patrick, Demarrio Pleasant, Ian Pleasant, Marcus Walker, Darien Williams, D.J. Wolfe and Dane Zaslaw.

Also joining the workout were former OU quarterback Tommy Grady, who transferred to Utah, and wideout David Robinson, who transferred to South Dakota.

Neither Malcolm Kelly nor Reggie Smith, both of whom declared for the NFL Draft after their junior seasons, participated in the workout.

Among those who stood out was Lofton, who showed considerable increases in his 40-yard-dash time and his vertical leap.

Lofton ran a 4.67 both times on Tuesday, a full one-tenth faster than at last month's NFL Combine in Indianapolis. He also had a 32-inch vertical, which was eight inches more than at the Combine.

"I'm not completely satisfied with my 40 time because I was running in the 4.5's during training," Lofton said. "But I'm a lot happier with today's performance than I was at the Combine."

Other notables in the 40 were Patrick (4.55), Walker (4.55) and Wolfe (4.57).

Walker and Patrick were also impressive in the standing broad jump, both clearing 10 feet.

Walker had a team-best 37-inch vertical jump. Patrick, who has reported jumps in the 40s, is still nursing a sore knee, but managed a jump of 36 inches.
