Oklahoma will be without the services of Blake Griffin until the postseason after the freshman underwent surgery on Sunday to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee. Griffin re-injured his knee in Saturday's win over Texas A&M.

NORMAN, Okla. - After a Saturday night MRI revealed a partially torn medial meniscus in his right knee, Oklahoma freshman forward Blake Griffin underwent arthroscopic surgery Sunday morning and is expected to return to action sometime during the postseason. The partial medial meniscectomy was performed by Dr. Don McGinnis and Dr. Brock Schnebel.

Griffin injured the knee with 15:15 remaining in the first half of Saturday's 64-37 win over Texas A&M when he fell to the floor after getting tangled with Aggies' forward Bryan Davis. Griffin went to the bench 18 seconds later and returned to the court with 4:49 left in the half. He finished the game with 13 points and a game-high-tying eight rebounds in 23 minutes. He scored all of his points and grabbed seven of his eight boards after sustaining the injury.

A two-time Big 12 Player of the Week, Griffin is OU's leading scorer and rebounder on the season. He ranks ninth in the Big 12 in scoring (15.2 ppg), fourth in rebounding (9.3 rpg) and third in field goal percentage (.568) while also averaging 2.0 assists per game and registering 24 blocked shots in his 28 outings. Over the last five contests, Griffin is averaging 16.8 points and 12.8 boards.

On Jan. 14, Griffin sustained a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee with 15:10 left in the first half at Kansas. He missed the remainder of that contest, as well as OU's next game against Texas Tech.

The Sooners (19-10 overall, 7-7 Big 12) are in a four-way tie for fifth place in the league race and have two regular season games remaining. They play at Oklahoma State (16-12, 7-7) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CST before returning home to face Missouri (15-14, 5-9) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Big 12 Championship will be held March 13-16 in Kansas City, Mo.
