Bishop Gorman (Nev.) four-star defensive end Justin Chaisson planned on making a trip to Norman in April for the annual Spring football game. However, Chaisson has been forced to cancel those plans. Sooners Illustrated talked with Chaisson Tuesday to find out why and to see what other offers have come his way.

One of the top defensive ends in the country has cancelled a planned visit to the University of Oklahoma’s Spring Game in April.

“I was planning on coming to the Spring Game,” said Bishop Gorman (Nev.) four-star defensive end Justin Chaisson. “But something just happened and my school prom is that day, so I can’t make it.”

But don’t worry, Sooner fans.

“I’ll probably head up there sometime this summer,” he said. “I want to bring my mom so she can check it out.”

Chaisson (6-5, 255) comes from the same high school that produced current Sooners Ryan Reynolds and DeMarco Murray.

“I’ve always like Oklahoma a lot,” he said. “Them being there just adds on.”

Chaisson set a Nevada state record for sacks in a 10-game season in 2007. He had 22 through 10 games, breaking the old record of 17. He finished the year with 103 tackles and 24 sacks as Bishop Gorman finished 14-0 and won the 4A state championship.

Currently a four-star prospect, Chaisson has the offers pouring in.

South Carolina and UCLA offered Monday, pushing his total to “19 or 20, I’m not sure exactly how many.”

Joining Oklahoma in offering Chaisson include the likes of Nebraska, LSU, Florida, Cal, Oregon, Arizona and Arizona State, among others.

“As of now, everyone is even,” he said. “I’m not making any huge decision, no top-five or anything like that. I’m open to anyone who shows interest.”
