D.J. Wolfe came to Oklahoma as a running back. Soon, he’ll be working out for scouts to make a home for himself in the NFL as a safety.
Wolfe has been selected to play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.
A senior from Lawton, Okla., Wolfe was part of the same recruiting class as Adrian Peterson.
Seeing playing time would be scarce at that position, he moved to cornerback for his sophomore and junior seasons. Prior to this season, Wolfe made the switch to safety and had his most productive year.
Starting all 14 games, Wolfe finished third on the team with 87 tackles and had a team-high four interceptions.
Kickoff for the Senior Bowl is scheduled for 3 p.m. It will be televised on the NFL Network.
Wolfe is one of five Sooner seniors selected so far to play in post-season all-star games. Joe Jon Finley, Garrett Hartley, Allen Patrick and Marcus Walker are slated to play in the East-West Shrine Game.
