D'Anton Lynn Back on the Market
D'Anton Lynn's got a lot on his mind these days. Christmas is coming up, which means it's finals time at school. His Celina (Texas) High School team is about to play for the Class 3A, Division II state championship. And, oh yeah, he's right back to deciding where he's going to spend his college career. Lynn, a four-star prospect rated as the 18th-best safety in the country, committed to Penn State in early November, choosing the Nittany Lions over Oklahoma. However, when Brian Norwood, the PSU assistant coach who recruited Lynn, was recently announced as the new Baylor defensive coordinator, Lynn decided to open up his recruiting. "I'm still committed to Penn State, but I've opened it up a little bit," Lynn said on Wednesday night. "I'm going to make a couple more official visits. "Once I take those, if I decide Penn State's still right for me, I'll stay committed." Oklahoma is still among the teams in the running. Bobby Jack Wright paid a visit to Lynn soon after he opened up his recruiting earlier this month. Lynn said he's been assured his offer is still there from OU. Is he still interested? "Oh yeah," Lynn said. "They're (OU) definitely still one of the teams in it." Lynn said he'll make official visits to Baylor and Texas Tech once his season concludes. Coaches from both schools have made in-home visits with Lynn recently, as have coaches from Penn State. One school that has yet to attempt to get back in the Lynn sweepstakes is Ohio State. "Once I committed to Penn State, they backed off," Lynn said. "And since I've opened it back up, I haven't heard back from them." Recruiting, however, isn't at the forefront of Lynn's mind this week. His top-ranked Celina (15-0) team plays No. 2 China Spring (14-1) for the state championship at 6 p.m. Saturday at Texas Stadium. On paper, Celina is the heavy favorite. "We're probably favored to win, but we were picked to win last year, too, so I don't worry too much about that," Lynn said.
