It was easy to notice that something was missing from the defense when watching the Sooners take on Baylor last weekend. That something was sack master Auston English. Alan Davis and Jeremy Beal played decent, but they were just not English.
“It’s critical,” Stoops said of getting pressure on the opposing quarterback. “Last week we didn’t get as much pressure as we were used to getting. It’s important this week that we can get pressure and a blitz.”
It appeared like English was all set to get back on the field this weekend, but a set-back in practice on Tuesday has left many wondering if there is a shot for English to still see the field.
After the practice English had surgery to place a thin rod in his foot to stabilize a bone that was broken in a 42-14 victory over Texas A&M.
Most would think that English would most likely be out for the game, but his current status is “day-to-day.”
