Paris scores 41 as Sooners improve to 18-3 overall and 8-2 in Big 12 play with a 78-63 win over OSU.
Norman — The Oklahoma women's basketball team broke out of their two-game slump in a big way Sunday with a 78-63 win and sweep of in-state rival Oklahoma State.
Courtney Paris led the way with a sensational 41-point, 19-rebound effort that pushed her double-double streak to 49 straight games and tied a school record with the 54th of her career.
The Sooners actually trailed 25-18 with 9:28 to go in the game, but quickly responded with a 12-0 run over the next six minutes to take a five point lead.
OU led 35-27 at halftime and then opened the second half with a 15-5 run to break the game open for good.
Back to Paris, the 6-foot-4 sophomore center's 41 points were the second-highest of her career. Her personal-best of 43 was set against New Mexico earlier this season.
She recorded 18 points and nine rebounds in the first half and an even more impressive 23 and 10 in the second half. It was the 19th time in her career to record a double-double in one half.
Sunday's attendance of 12,090 was also the second-largest at home in the history of the program.
With the win, Oklahoma improved to 18-3 overall and 8-2 in Big 12 play, while Oklahoma State fell to 15-7 and 3-6. As of Sunday, the Sooners are sitting in first place by a half game ahead of Nebraska (7-2) and Texas A&M (7-2).
OU will get a much needed week off and return to the court next Sunday for a rematch against Texas A&M in College Station.
