MBB Final: Oklahoma 78 Colorado 54

Freshman Tony Crocker leads the way as Oklahoma improves gets their first Big 12 win.

Jeff Capel's Oklahoma basketball team put together another good defensive effort and found a way to put the ball in the basket cruising past Colorado, 78-54, Wednesday night in Norman.

After opening the game shooting 34.6 percent in the first half, the Sooners got hot in the second half hitting 53.8 percent of their shots. OU led at the half 37-26 and outscored Colorado in the second half 41-28.

Freshman Tony Crocker led the way with 16 points, but he had somewhat of a strange game. He made only one field goal on 1-for-4 shooting, but cashed in at the free throw line hitting 13 of his 15 attempts. Crocker also tied for the team lead in rebounding with eight.

Senior Nate Carter came off the bench finishing with 15 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore point guard Austin Johnson also finished in double figures with 10 and used his long arms to come up with four steals.

The Sooners put tremendous pressure on Colorado all night forcing 14 steals and 25 turnovers while holding the Buffs to 40.8 percent shooting. OU outscored the Buffs 33-10 in points off turnovers.

Oklahoma is now 9-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Colorado falls to 4-8 and 0-2.

The Sooners will travel to Austin, Texas to take on the Longhorns on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (CST).
