Recruiting: Alabama DE still talking to OU

The latest on Mobile, Ala. defensive end Sidell Corley.

Sidell Corley, DE, 6-4, 250, MOBILE (McGILL-TOOLEN HS), ALABAMA:

JH: How much did you enjoy playing in the Army All-American Game?

SD: "I liked and I learned a lot. It was great being around all those great players. It was great to compete in it."

JH: How did you feel like you played in the game?

SD: "I thought I played well. I made a couple of plays, but I could have played a lot better, especially in the pass rush."

JH: Didn't you play all over the place?

SD: "I played both defensive end and defensive tackle."

JH: Have you talked to Oklahoma lately?

SD: "I talked to Coach (Chris) Wilson after the game. He said I don't have to worry about going anywhere close to inside at Oklahoma. He told me I am going to play defensive end if I go to Oklahoma, and that is good to hear."

JH: What other players impressed you the most?

SD: "Anthony Davis (offensive takcle from Piscataway, N.J. who is Princeton commit) is a very good player. I went up against him at practice and he started at offensive tackle for us. He impressed me a lot. I was also impressed with Marvin Austin (Washington, D.C.) at defensive tackle. He has great strength and quickness and is tough to knock off his feet."

JH: What is the latest in recruiting, especially with Nick Saban being named as the new Head Football Coach at Alabama and you being the top recruit in Alabama?

SD: "I am taking an official to Alabama. I go to Tennessee this weekend and then the following weekend I am going to Alabama. I talked to coach Saban yesterday and he is coming to my house tomorrow."

JH: What were your first impressions of coach Saban?

SD: "He is a defensive coach just like coach Stoops, and he likes big people at defensive end."

JH: Do you want to play for a defensive head coach?

SD: "I guess from my standpoint it would be good to have a head coach that thinks about defense first, but to be honest that really isn't a factor. To win you have to be good on both sides of a ball. All great head coaches believe that."

JH: In your case, you have the team that you committed to early winning the National Championship last night. What are your thoughts on Florida winning the National Title?

SD: "That is big, that was real big. There were a lot of doubters out there when it came to that game. I knew they were going to win, but I didn't know they were going to blow that team out like that."

JH: What are your thoughts on the Gators at this point?

SD: "I am still committed to them and I am saving them for my last visit. I think I am visiting them on the 26th."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma at this point?

SD: "I like everything about Oklahoma. I like the coaches and when I took my official up there I had a good time. I enjoyed myself and felt comfortable around the guys. I like Oklahoma a lot."
