"Miami is on the top of my list because of coach (Larry) Coker," said Louisiana defensive tackle…
Recruiting: OU has company atop DTs list
JH: Last time we talked you basically had to play two games in one week, so how did the second game go?
CW: "We had to play a game recently on Thursday following a Monday game. We played St. James and came out on top 28-25. We converted a fourth and 15th to get in position to win the game and our quarterback, Jai Eugene, scored from there. I played well and I had a least eight or nine tackles, two sacks and three hurries. Late in the game, I got a sack and it turned out to be an 8- to 9-yard loss. We are off to a good start at 4-0."
JH: Are you back on a normal schedule playing on Friday nights?
CW: "Yes sir. This Friday we have John Everett."
JH: What is the latest in recruiting?
CW: "I am leaning towards Oklahoma and Miami. Both are in the lead right now. I talk to those two schools the most on the phone. Nebraska and Ole Miss are my other two schools that I like. Those four schools are my top schools at the moment.
"I just want to concentrate on my work in the classroom so that I can graduate on time and so I can sign on signing day with who I want to sign with."
JH: You are more fired up about Miami since the last time we talked. What has happened to have you so fired up about Miami over the last couple of weeks?
CW: "Actually, it was a great phone call from Coach (Larry) Cocker that really got me interested in Miami. He is a great guy. He told me about how Miami does a great job of getting players ready for the NFL and how next year when I would be coming in that I could play as a true freshman. Miami is a great program and the fact I can play early appeals to me."
JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?
CW: "They are still very high on my list. I need to go visit there and see what my surroundings would be like there. I want to go where I can feel comfortable, and I want to check out Oklahoma and see what it feels like. Don't get me wrong, I love the coaches up at Oklahoma. I love Coach (Chris) Wilson, Coach (Bob) Stoops and Coach (Jackie) Shipp. They show me a lot of love all the time.
"I like Oklahoma, but I just need to go there and see how I fit into an environment like that. I want to go to a program where I can impact the team as a freshman and I need to find out how I can do that at Oklahoma."
JH: Have you set up your visits yet?
CW: "I set a visit to Miami (1-23), Texas Tech (1-15), Ole Miss (11-12) and I still have to talk to Coach (John) Blake at Nebraska and Coach Wilson at Oklahoma to set up my other two visits."
