RECRUITING: Virginia WR ready for trip to Norman Premium Story
Brandon Caleb

Posted Aug 1, 2005

Fork Union, Va. WR Brandon Cable names a top three and talks about his upcoming visit to Norman.

Brandon Caleb, WR, 6-1, 195, 4.55, FORK UNION (FORK UNION MILITARY ACADEMY), VIRGINIA:

JH: I know you are visiting OU this weekend, so what are you hoping to get accomplished during that visit?

BC: “When I get there I want to look around the campus and see how I fit in there. Then I want to check with the academic people and talk about majors, and just see what kind of support group they have. I want to see what kind of system they have in academics and how other players are using it successfully. I am not worried about the football, because I know OU is great in football. What I have to learn about is the other aspects of their college.”

JH: You say you already know a great deal about the football program, but won’t you hope to learn more about the depth chart, the wide receiver position itself and more about wide receiver coach — Darrell Wyatt?

BC: “Coach Wyatt and I have a great relationship already. We talk on the phone all the time. I think when I go down there things are going to fall into place. I already get along with him great, and that is important because he is going to be the coach coaching me. I look forward to getting to know him better.”

JH: Who is making the trip with you?

BC: “It will be just me and my mom.”

JH: What did you think about your recent trip to Florida?

BC: “I had a good time at Florida. We were down there Friday and Saturday — for their junior day. I worked out for their wide receiver coach — Billy Gonzalez. They didn’t offer me a scholarship and that was disappointing, but I just have to go onto the next school. I still have some great schools that are offering.”

JH: What do you want to major in?

BC: “I want to get into computer engineering.”

JH: What schools are in the running to sign you at this point?

BC: “I am still considering OU, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.”

JH: Do you have a favorite?

BC: “I am still somewhat wide open between those three schools because I haven’t seen the campuses. I need to see the schools to really see what they are like before I name a favorite. I like OU, but I like the other schools to. I still have some research to do.”

JH: What are your overall thoughts on OU?

BC: “OU is a great school, and a great school to play at. They are getting receivers in the NFL and that is perfect for me because that is what I am trying to do.”
