Telep says OU building a potential Top 5 class

Posted May 26, 2005

Scout hoops recruiting expert Dave Telep talks about the commitment of Keith Clark and OU's class.

See below for Scout.com National Basketball Recruiting Analyst Dave Telep's thoughts on Oklahoma's latest commitment from Putnam City High School standout Keith Clark.

OUI: Dave, tell us about Keith Clark's game and where you see him playing at the college level?

DT: The strength of Keith's game has always been his versatility. About a year ago he began shooting it really well. He's definitely a combo forward who has more inside to his game than most kids we traditionally list as small forwards.

OUI: Where is Clark in your latest rankings?

DT: We ranked Keith No. 31 in our latest round of rankings. He could easily be higher on the list if he consistently goes out and plays to his immense abilities. He's a talented kid who plays inside and out and he's got a chance to be a real player.

OUI: With Clark joining Scottie Reynolds and Damion James, where does OU's class stack up nationally at this point?

DT: What OU is doing in 2006 is remarkable. They've got Scott Reynolds who we think has a chance to be the best shooter in the class and he's our No. 38 prospect. Then there's one of the most athletic guys in the country, Damion James; we've got him at No. 14. With Clark (No. 31), you have the groundwork for what could potentially be a Top 5 class. It's early to say that for sure, but it could be headed that way after OU targets a center for its 4th scholarship.
