RECRUITING: Sooners in good shape for Texas OL?

Corsicana, Texas OL Cory Brandon likes three schools early, but says one stands out.

CORY BRANDON, OT, 6'6, 250, 5.1, CORSICANA, TEXAS:

Cory Brandon is one of those offensive tackle types that the college coaches know will grow into his position. He is already blessed with a great frame, and once he gets into a great college weight program he will grow into a 300-pound plus offensive tackle.

Brandon broke into the starting line-up last season and found out that he could play with the big boys.

"I didn't know that I was playing that well or that I did that well until recruiting started," said Brandon. "I started receiving a lot of letters and a lot of phone calls, and then I realized I must have done something last year to draw this much attention. I play right tackle and last year I used my athletic ability to make some things happen. I used my quickness to my advantage or at least I tried to and most of the time. It worked out for me."

Brandon can bench 300 pounds, squats 405 and he has a 27-inch vertical jump. Brandon has yet to attend any summer camps, but he hopes to attend the OU summer camp.

Thus far, Brandon has been offered Purdue, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU and a number of other schools at this point.

"I really like Oklahoma," said Brandon. "Oklahoma wins a lot of games and I want to go somewhere they win a lot of games. I like the coaches and I like their style of offense. I also like the fact they don't have a lot of depth on the offensive line. I would say the other schools that I like right now are Texas A&M and Florida, but Oklahoma is easily my favorite team right now."

Brandon's GPA is in order and he is waiting the results after taking his ACT for the first time.
