To say Eddie Jones is going to be one of the most touted rush ends in the country, well, that's…
RECRUITING: Coveted Texas DE has a favorite
Eddie Jones is already big enough to play defensive end at most colleges, but with his frame he will grow into a super defensive end at the next level.
Jones will be a three-year starter at defensive end, and that is where he will play at the next level.
"I love the fact that I get to compete against offensive linemen, who are bigger than me, but they don't have as big a heart as I do. My quickness and speed usually give me the advantage over most offensive linemen that I face, and I love to rush the passer."
Last season, Jones finished with 131 tackles, despite the fact that teams run away from him as much as they can. Jones also had 12 sacks, 15 quarterback pressers and four passes that he batted down. That year followed his sophomore season, when he was just getting started with 84 tackles.
Jones can bench 285 pounds, squats 465 and he is the designated hitter in baseball hitting .459 with four home runs and 20 RBIs.
Last year, Jones went to the Stephen F. Austin and SMU summer camps and this summer he wants to go back to SFA and then two other schools to visit. Jones has 12 offers at this point and he is working to come up with his favorites.
"I am looking at Texas, Texas A&M, Nebraska, TCU and LSU are my top five. I also like Oklahoma, but I don't think I will leave the state of Texas. I will probably pick a school that is in Texas. UT is my favorite school in Texas at this point."
Jones has qualified.
