Two Sooners switching positions

Posted Mar 4, 2005

D.J. Wolfe (pictured right) and Lewis Baker will have new homes this spring.

In an effort to bolster the corner position, sophomore D.J. Wolfe has moved from running back to cornerback with hopes of getting on the field quicker.

Wolfe, who stands at 5-foot-11 and now weighs 200 pounds, brings a physical presence that OU likes at corner. He played some corner and some safety at Lawton Eisenhower.

At the moment, Wolfe is working solely at cornerback and he will spend most of the spring at cornerback. This does not mean that his running back career is over. OU knows that he can play running back and play it well, but they also know that Adrian Peterson will have that job pretty much to himself over the next couple of years.

Lewis Baker has also moved from linebacker to safety for the spring, and he will also get a shot as the nickle or dime defensive back.

Wolfe is one of the Sooners best special team performers and Baker figures to be as well.
