Dallas, Texas five-star defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger committed to Oklahoma on Sunday night. Granger chose the Sooners over Arizona State and Oklahoma State.
In orally committing to Oklahoma on Sunday night, Dallas Kimball defensive tackle
DeMarcus Granger
did his best to turn up the heat on Bedlam.
From a Dallas television station, the nation’s top-ranked defensive tackle of 2005 briefly reached for an Oklahoma State hat before announcing his college choice and donning an OU cap.
The 6-foot-2, 315-pounder chose the Sooners over Arizona State and Oklahoma State. He said he will sign a letter of intent with Oklahoma on Wednesday.
"I've got to win," Granger said. "I'm obsessed with winning, so I have to go somewhere that's winning right now."
Granger said his relationship with Sooner coach
Bob Stoops
also weighed heavily in his decision.
"When we went up there, he (Stoops) was kind to my mother and brother," he said. "He didn't have to spend time with my family. He's a busy man and could have done something he wanted to do, but he spent time on my recruiting visit with my mother, sister and brother."
As a senior, Granger had 79 tackles, including 17 for loss, 15 sacks and forced 11 fumbles, 4 of which he recovered. He said he hopes to follow in the footsteps of past Sooner defensive tackles.
"The defensive line is constantly putting defensive tackles in the league," Granger said. "It's just something everyone looks at.
Tommie Harris
and now
Dan Cody
is about to go in. I just want to be in the rotation."
