RECRUITING: Sooners offer Kansas DE

La Cygne, Kan. defensive end Brodey Eldridge update.

BRODY ELDRIDGE, DE, 6'5, 230, 4.7, LA CYGNE (PRAIRIE VIEW HS), KANSAS:

Talk about your diamond in the rough. Brody Eldridge wasn't on many preseason lists, but that was before coaches started to get a look at his film. Now that the coaches have the film in hand, everybody who sees it falls in love with his ability.

"At first, when I didn't get any calls or attention I was getting worried," said Eldridge. "Now I am getting quite a bit of attention and I am enjoying it. It hasn't gotten old yet."

Eldridge will be a four-year starter, starting from the end of his freshman year as a free safety and outside linebacker. Then as a sophomore, he worked as a free safety and last year he played inside linebacker finishing with 136 tackles and eight sacks. This season, Eldridge will once again play inside linebacker, but knows that a move to defensive end is in the cards in college.

"That is fine with me," said Eldridge. "All I know is that I want to play defense. I figured with my size that I would probably play defensive end in college. I have good closing speed and I think that will help me at defensive end in college."

Eldridge can bench 300 pounds, squats 400 and he has a vertical jump of 28 inches. Eldridge starts in hoops averaging 10 points, seven rebounds and six blocks per game. In track, Eldridge runs the 200M and 400M (52.2).

He has been offered by TCU, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, KU and Arizona.

"Right now I like both of the Oklahoma schools and Arizona," said Eldridge. "I can't complain about KU either, they have treated me real well. They just aren't as good as the Oklahoma schools right now. I'm really considering Oklahoma and Oklahoma State a lot. I have been to Oklahoma State, but I haven't been to Oklahoma. I hope to make it down there next week. I went to camp at Oklahoma State and liked it a lot, and now I want to see what Oklahoma is like."

Eldridge has qualified.
