RECRUITING: Sooners get much needed fulback commit

Phoenix, Ariz. fullback Matt Clapp talks about his commitment to Oklahoma. Clapp chose the Sooners over Miami, Ohio State and Arizona.

Matt Clapp, FB, 6-3, 235, 4.6, PHOENIX (PARADISE HS), ARIZONA:

JH: I understand that you committed to OU today?

MC: "I am so happy right now. I knew that was my No. 1 school all along. I knew that I wanted to go there and I fit in with everything there perfectly. The coaches and players were great and it was just a perfect fit for me."

JH: Is Oklahoma going to be the only school you visit now?

MC: "Yeah, I am going to take my official visit on September 11 for the Houston game. That will be the only visit that I take."

JH: You said that OU is a perfect fit, how is that the case?

MC: "They are not real deep at fullback, and I talked to Coach Stoops and he told me today that I am versatile guy that can catch and run the ball, but also block. It fit in perfect because of my size and speed. My body and my skills just fit in with their offense."

JH: What other schools did you consider?

MC: "OU is the only school I considered committing to. I also looked at Arizona, Ohio State and Miami."
