OU 2016 offers: Defensive line

Examining the defensive line offers for OU and the 2016 class.

The Class of 2015 is halfway there for Oklahoma, but it’s never too early to start dissecting what the Sooners are up to for 2016.

Here is a list of OU’s offers at every position and one name to watch. The name to watch isn’t necessarily the most likely to commit but just a name to keep on your radar going forward.

DE

Baltimore St. Frances Academy’s Rahshaun Smith (6-3, 228, No. 5 DE)

Houston MacArthur’s Isaiah Chambers (6-4, 235, No. 8)

McKinney (Texas) North’s Justin Madubuike (6-4, 240, No. 14)

Hope (Ark.) High’s McTelvin Agim (6-3, 247, No. 16)

Cibolo (Texas) Steele’s Mark Jackson (6-4, 210, No. 17)

Miami Gulliver Prep’s Joseph Jackson (6-6, 240, NR)

One to watch: Agim. You have to imagine it’s going to be one tough, tough battle to get Agim away from Arkansas and SEC country, but the Sooners have done everything right so far. Defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery has made a huge impression with Agim, and it says a lot Agim participated in OU’s camp this summer. Keeping up the visits and interest, though, is another issue.

DT

Killeen (Texas) Shoemaker’s Kendell Jones (6-4, 300, No. 2 DT)

Houston Westfield’s Ed Oliver (6-2, 285, No. 4)

Monroe (La.) Neville’s Rashard Lawrence (6-3, 300, No. 7)

Destrehan (La.) High’s Glen Logan (6-4, 280, No. 14)

One to watch: Lawrence. Copy and paste what was said about Agim and put it here for Lawrence. Right in the heart of SEC country, it’s going to be difficult to lure him away. And like Agim, Lawrence has also made an unofficial visit to Norman, visiting two weeks ago. OU was the first offer for Oliver so that will be intriguing to watch as Montgomery is making sure Sooners are in good shape going forward.

OKPreps to watch: Norman North’s Corey Tipsword. Montgomery might not have to invade SEC country for one of his prospects if Tipsword can perform like he did this summer. Didn’t start until Week 8 last season, his coach believes he could be something special. And for anybody that saw Tipsword at OU’s camp this summer, knows that could certainly be the case. Incredibly raw, but he could shine in a huge way this season.
