OU-Tennessee set for primetime

A couple of kickoff times were announced for OU on Thursday and Sooners given major showcase chance against Tennessee.

It could turn out to be a big recruiting weekend for Oklahoma, and now the Sooners battle against Tennessee has been given an even bigger showcase.

The Big 12 conference announced OU's game against the Volunteers will kickoff at 7 p.m. CST on Sept. 13. It will be broadcast on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

This will be the first meeting between the schools since the 1968 Orange Bowl and the first regular season contest. OU returns the favor next year by playing at Tennessee.

It's always nice to have a quality non-conference opponent for a home game, and it could serve OU even more in the future as it just so happens a couple of OU's top targets are considering both the Sooners and the Volunteers.

The other kickoff time announced for OU is the season opener against Louisiana Tech. It will be at 6 p.m. CST on Aug. 30 and will be broadcast on pay-per-view, Fox Sports Oklahoma announced Thursday. A list of participating program providers offering the pay-per-view telecast and other details will be announced at a later date.
