Lampkin decommits from Sooners

Scout 300 DL Du'Vonta Lampkin

OU was dealt another blow to its class Tuesday evening as Scout 300 DL Du'Vonta Lampkin has announced he is no longer committed to the Sooners.

What's the expression – when it rains, it pours. It won't stop coming down for Oklahoma right now. For the second consecutive week, the Sooners have lost a longtime commitment for the Class of 2015.

Cypress (Texas) Falls defensive lineman Du'Vonta Lampkin tweeted Tuesday evening he is back on the recruiting market.

"After talking to my family and people close to my football career, we've decided to open up my recruitment," said Lampkin in a tweet. "This is a hard decision, but there's not a reason that OU still isn't my number 1.

"We feel taking the visits is the best thing for me so that's what I'm going to do. Thank you."

Lampkin, committed to OU since late November, made his second trip to Norman in as many months last week for the spring game. Following the visit, he said he was firm with the Sooners.

This week has been a huge week for the Scout 300 prospect. Monday saw Mississippi State and Missouri offer, while Tuesday afternoon saw Oklahoma State enter the mix.

Last week Oklahoma City Casady offensive lineman Josh Wariboko also decommitted from the Sooners. Lampkin expressed his surprise in a tweet to Wariboko and now he's in the same boat.

OU entered the spring evaluation period with five commits and is now down to three following the decommitments of Wariboko and Lampkin. Recommended Stories
