Setting the stage: No. 23 OU at TCU

OU power forward Ryan Spangler

OU looks to lock up the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 tournament with a win at TCU.

With OU firmly entrenched in its Big 12 conference play, SoonersIllustrated.com is going to preview each of the Sooners conference games.

No. 23 Oklahoma (22-8, 11-6) at TCU (9-20, 0-17)

When: 3 p.m. CST

Last game: It wasn't one of OU's finest nights, but the Sooners found a way to a 72-62 victory against West Virginia. TCU remained winless in the conference and is coming off a 66-54 loss to Texas.

What to watch for: It's pretty simple for the Sooners. If OU finds a way to win in Fort Worth, the Sooners will be the No. 2 seed in next weekend's Big 12 tournament. No other motivation should be needed.

OU stumbled into the Big 12 tournament last season, which included a loss to TCU at around this same time of year. OU isn't just playing for seeding in the conference tournament but also in the NCAA tournament.

Other than that, it's about staying healthy for OU. Sooners have done a pretty good job of avoiding the injury bug. Don't take TCU for granted and come out early and put the doubt in its mind.

Scouting the Horned Frogs: TCU has lost its first eight conference home games by almost 16 points per game and the Horned Frogs are last in scoring in the conference this season at 58.5 points per game.

When things are rolling well it's because of junior guard Kyan Anderson. He is the team leader at 17 points, 4.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

The presence in the post remains freshman Karviar Shepherd, who leads the team with 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per contest.
