Per a source a close to the situation, sophomore cornerback L.J. Moore has left the Oklahoma football team.
Moore played in two games last season and recorded one tackle and would have been one of a handful of guys vying for the second starting cornerback position opposite Zack Sanchez.
Moore, who is 6-foot-1 and 166 pounds, is still listed on the official OU roster at Soonersports.com but an OU spokesman confirmed they don’t intend to have Moore as part of the team.
Moore was one of three players from the Fresno (Calif.) Central team signed by OU in the last two years. The Sooners signed Moore and Hatari Byrd last year and signed their former teammate Michiah Quick three weeks ago. Moore has been feeling homesick and hopes to play closer to home, said the source.
With Moore out of the picture, the cornerback spot is down to Stanvon Taylor, Dakota Austin and Cortez Johnson battling it out to become the other starting cornerback.
