The book has been closed on the Class of 2014 and now it’s time to look ahead toward the Class of 2015 in the state of Oklahoma.
Currently with four recruits in the Scout 300, the state has a lot of on the cusp recruits that will be able to make an impact in the months to come.
SoonersIllustrated.com is counting down the top 25 this week.
No. 25 Edmond Memorial running back Warren Wand (5-7, 165)
The last two seasons have been remarkable for the undersized running back. He has produced on the biggest stage possible in the state, but it’s not translating to a lot of attention yet. He had 266 carries for 1,769 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior and is as durable as they come.
No. 24 Yukon offensive lineman Shane Block (6-5, 260)
While everybody was trying to get a gauge of how good former teammate Tyler Bowling was, you couldn’t help but notice Block as a junior. He’s looking to make it back-to-back years with Yukon sending an offensive lineman to a Division I school.
No. 23 McAlester quarterback Dalton Wood (6-3, 225)
Wood is an interesting case because he really wants to be a quarterback. Some have seen his future at linebacker. Last year he helped lead McAlester to the Class 5A state championship game. He ran for 1,095 yards and 17 touchdowns and threw for 1,907 yards with 22 more scores and 11 interceptions.
No. 22 Midwest City defensive back Roscoe Gatewood (5-9, 175)
Midwest City is loaded with talent for the Class of 2015, and Gatewood is right up there with the rest of the Bombers. He has definitely been active on the visit circuit and working with Quick Twitch should only help him going further. He rushed for 178 yards and three scores but also had 102 tackles last season.
No. 21 Roland (Okla.) tight end Austin Cantrell (6-3, 220)
Roland has help put itself on the map in basketball the last couple of years, but Cantrell is definitely a legit prospect for the class. With his size, he could be viewed as either a tight end or defensive end. Right now the prevailing thought is he will be a tight end at the next level.
