Setting the stage: No. 21 OU at West Virginia

OU forward Cam Clark

OU looks to get back on track as the 21st-ranked Sooners head to West Virginia.

With OU firmly entrenched in its Big 12 conference play, SoonersIllustrated.com is going to preview each of the Sooners conference games.

No. 21 Oklahoma (17-5, 6-3) at West Virginia (13-9, 5-4)

When: 6 p.m. CST

Last game: The Sooners didn't have an emotional letdown but simply didn't have enough in the tank down the stretch in an 81-75 loss at Iowa State. West Virginia punctuated its best week of the season with an 81-71 victory against Kansas State.

What to watch for: The production of senior forward and leader Cameron Clark. In Big 12 play, Clark has not been the best player on the floor for the Sooners. In some cases, he hasn't even been the third or fourth. Clark has to be consistent for OU to maintain its level of success.

Sophomore guard Buddy Hield is coming off the best game of his two-year career with 30 points, and he'll need to provide more of that excitement and energy on the road.

Scouting the Mountaineers: A tough team to figure out, and a team OU will have to be at its best to beat. West Virginia has been anything but an easy out this season in conference play and back-to-back wins at Baylor and vs. KSU last week show the team is only getting better.

It starts with guard Juwan Staten. He leads the team at 18 points per game but has been even better in conference play at 20 per contest. He also averages 5.8 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. Eron Harris averages 17 points.
