McNeace commits to Sooners

OU basketball picked up its first pledge for the Class of 2014 with Allen (Texas) center Jamuni McNeace.

Oklahoma has found plenty of success before at Allen (Texas) High, but it's usually in football. This time the Sooners have dipped back into Allen for basketball.

Center Jamuni McNeace confirmed Sunday morning he has committed to OU while on his official visit to campus this weekend.

McNeace, who is 6-foot-10 and 205 pounds, had offers from several smaller schools, but the Sooners were his most high-profile offer.

It was obvious from watching him on the sidelines before OU's football game against TCU that McNeace was having a great time.

The addition of McNeace is the first commit for OU's basketball class. The Sooners do have two commits from Allen for football. Tay Evans, a Class of 2014 linebacker, pledged in July and was also on his official visit to OU this weekend.

His younger brother, Bobby Evans, is a Class of 2015 offensive lineman who committed to OU eight days after his brother.
