Lynn earns Big 12 honor

OU safety Gabe Lynn had an interception and a fumble recovery on his way to being named the conference's defensive player of the week.

Oklahoma safety Gabe Lynn has had a great start to the 2013 season, and he was recognized for his play Saturday in the win against West Virginia.

Lynn was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday morning.

A senior, Lynn recorded his first career interception and recovered a fumble against the Mountaineers. He finished the game with three tackles and was praised by OU coaches Bob and Mike Stoops for his leadership and understanding of the defense.

Oklahoma State quarterback J.W. Walsh was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Kansas State’s Tramaine Thompson earned the special teams honor. The conference players of the week are announced Monday morning.
